people to do those jobs. he wants to help middle-aged, non-college educated long time workers to get back in the mix by going back to the community colleges and getting skills that will get them good jobs. and he has literally revolutionized the student loan law. from now on, beginning next year, listen to this, every person in america who has a college loan beginning next year will, first of all, get it at a lower cost and will have the absolute right to pay that loan back as a low, fixed percent of their income for 20 years. and since in this last decade we have fallen to 15th or so in the percentage of our young people with four-year college degrees, this is great. it means nobody ever has to drop out of college again. ever because of the cost. one of the reasons middle class people didn't get a pay raise in the last decade is that health care costs went up so much. the health care law has not only allowed three million young people to be on their parents' insurance policy for the first time, has not only made it possible beginning next year, if he wins, for more than 30 million a

we should do is turn back now. here's my plan for the next four years: making education and training a national priority; building on our manufacturing boom; boosting american-made energy; reducing the deficits responsibly by cutting where... we can, and asking the wealthy to pay a little more. and ending the war in afghanistan, so we can... do some nation-building here at home. that's the right path. so read my plan, compare it to governor romney's... and decide which is better for you. it's an honor to be your president... and i'm asking for your vote... so together, we can keep moving america forward. i'm barack obama and i approve this message. wooohooo....hahaahahaha! oh...there you go. wooohooo....hahaahahaha! i'm gonna stand up to her! no you're not. i know. you know ronny folks who save hundreds of dollars switching to geico sure are happy. how happy are they jimmy? happier than a witch in a broom factory. get happy. get geico. fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more. >>> from sappedy's landfall to sandy's wicked aftermath, here are today's "top lines,

the economic recovery that's under way as he took credit for the success of the education in massachusetts even though he was only governor for four years. >> clearly the economy is not stagna stagnant. there are a lot of different statistical data that suggests the economy is slowly but steadily recovering, and it's real interesting for mr. romney to sort of suggest he's not going to play social conservative politics when he's been playing social conservative politics all throughout his campaign. all of his sort of commentary about women's issues and reproductive rates. his commentary about race and class and education, all the things he's been talking about in terms of his campaign have been on the socially conservative sizde. it doesn't make sense he wouldn't appoint judges that are socially conservative and engage in politics that are socially conservative and play to the tea party base of the republican party. that doesn't make sense unless he's playing fast and furious with the truth. according to what he's done up to this point, martin, i'm not sure we can trust him on

and education were priorities for those democrats. that's why they worked with him. it wasn't down to some magical elixir that he brewed, was it? >> remember even when he was asked about gun control laws, he said he supported that because there was general agreement on it. it wasn't because he exerted any kind of leadership ability. his entire history, clearly when he faced a legislature that was 85% democrat there wasn't much he was able to do unless democrats wanted to go there. this is a very very different environment he would find himself in in washington. and again his problem is that eric cantor and a lot of republicans aren't willing to compromise, aren't willing to reach out to anybody. his problem is going to be with his own party. democrats have been willing all along to sit down and talk about some common approaches to some serious problems and republicans. >> indeed just three days to go. thank you sir. >> thank you, martin. >> and thanks so much for watching our special broadcast tonight. "the ed show" is next. [ male announcer ] wouldn't it be cool if you could combine

education and construction, to improve the infrastructure, aging infrastructure of this country. do you think that what has happened here is, in a way, going to produce an accidental stimulus, simply by the effect of this natural disaster, which will force the state of new jersey, new york, and other places around the country, to spend money on rebuilding? >> right, well, that's precisely the effect that i was just menti mentioning, in terms of adding to gdp growth, from rebuilding things that were destructed. but beyond that, there are many infrastructure projects implied by this disaster, including, by the way, burying power lines that are aboveground, and thus exposed, in storms like this. >> jonathan, i wanted to come back to you, briefly, as the president and governor christie prepare to speak. they're still greeting people on the street there. they're very nearby. senator bob menendez, senator frank lautenberg are with them. we've heard mitt romney's position on climate change, which we think on most issues, has tended to be on both sides of the argument. what does he say now, giv
